Gros is the younger, slightly more alternative sibling to the old town. As the old town bars get packed, the energy shifts here. You'll find more cocktail bars, smaller clubs, and late-night eateries, with a crowd that's heavily local and student-oriented.
Centro has a more subdued, grown-up option. The bars here are often wine-focused or classic cocktail lounges, attracting an older crowd or those looking for a conversation without the overwhelming noise of the old town. It's a good starting or ending point.

- ✓ Be cautious when walking along the river or the less populated edges of the old town late at night.
- ✓ Taxis are a safe and relatively affordable way to get back to your accommodation, with ranks at the Boulevard and in Gros.
