By car:

There are several alternatives depending on the starting point of your journey.

From Madrid (or South of Spain), come along the A-1 and the motorway AP-1. 452kms. It takes 4 hours and 30 minutes approx.

From Barcelona, come along the motorway AP-2 which connects both cities. 570kms. It takes 5 hours and 30 minutes approx.

From Valencia (or the East), come along the A-23. 572kms. It takes 5 hours and 45 minutes approx.

From France, come along the motorway A63 direction San Sebastian. Once you have gone over the border, keep going along the A-8 and take Exit number 12, direction GI-20. Afterwards, take the exit number 7 which takes you to the city centre.

By train:

The railway station in San Sebastian is located by the river, in the city centre, just opposite the Maria Cristina Bridge which connects the station and the city centre.

From Madrid, you can take the ALVIA train. It departs from Madrid-Chamartin.

From Barcelona, the train is also the ALVIA. The departing station is Barcelona-Sants.

From Valencia, there are no direct trains so it is necessary a change; you can come through Madrid (AVE train to Madrid and then the ALVIA train here) or come through Barcelona (EUROMED from Valencia to Barcelona and then ALVIA).

From France, it is advisable to search the possibilities through the French railway network all the way to Hendaye and from there take a local train to San Sebastian (35 minutes approx. on the EUSKOTREN).



By coach:

The coach company ALSA departs from Madrid (Avenida de América Coach Station). There are departures every hour.
The coach company VIBASA departs from Barcelona (Sants Station).
The coach company BILMANBUS, from Valencia, makes two journeys to San Sebastian daily.
The coach company PESA, departs from Bilbao. There are departures every 30 minutes from 07:45 to 23:45.

By plane:

San Sebastian’s Airport is situated 21.4 km away from the city (25 minutes by car approx.)
Bilbao’s Airport (Spain), situated 100 km away from San Sebastian (1 hour by car).
Biarritz’s Airport (France), situated 50 km away from San Sebastian (40 minutes by car)
There is a shuttle service from Loiu’s Airport (Bilbao) as well as from Biarritz’s Airport directly to San Sebastian. However, from Biarritz there is just one departure daily and the journey takes 45 minutes. The bus company Ekialdebus offers regular services between San Sebastian and its airport, located in Hondarribia.
