There may be some differences and some exceptions to the following information:
Banks and Finance: Monday to Friday 9:00 – 14:00, although most banks also offer longer opening hours one day a week, normally Thursday. Careful! In the summer the opening hours may vary.
Shops: The smallest and more traditional shops are open morning and afternoon but closed at lunchtime, Monday to Saturday 9:30/10:00 – 13:00/13:30 and in the afternoon 16:00/16:30 – 20:00/20:30. Some of them close on Monday morning.
Those part of big chains or more touristy shops are open all day, Monday to Friday 9:30 – 21:30 or 10:00 – 20:00.
Traditional markets: Fresh vegetable and fruits stalls as well as the fish stalls are open Monday to Saturday 8:00 – 14:00. The butchers, cooked meats and more comercial fruit stalls open 8:00 – 20:00, although some will close at lunchtime.
Post Office: All offices open, in general, Monday to Friday 8:30 – 20:30 and Saturday 8:30 – 20:30.
Change of currency: There are no Bureaus de Change at all in San Sebastian as in other countries. It is only possible to change foreign currency at the bank.
Pharmacy: All chemist's are open Monday to Friday 9:30 – 13:30 and 16:00 – 20:00. However, every day of the year, both during the day as well as during the night, you will find there is one pharmacy in each neighbourhood opened in case you need it. All the details are available at the window of each one. Mónica Arrillaga's pharmacy is open 24 / 7 and it is located at Idiakez 4.
