San Sebastian is a first world class gastronomic destination. Here, there are more Michelin Stars per square metre than in any other city in the world. At the same time, it is considered the site of the reawakening of the Basque gastronomy through the “New Basque Cuisine” movement.
High quality basic products together with the universally acclaimed “pintxos” are offered all throughout the year, to the delight of both locals and visitors from all over the world.
Gastronomy is one of the greatest devotions for our local people. This is probably the reason behind the recent opening of one of the first world schools for top chefs: the Basque Culinary Center. It is not surprising that people in San Sebastian are so much in love with their own gastronomy, which they put into practice both at home and in the legendary popular societies. These societies are private clubs where their members enjoy good food and good company.
