Museums in San Sebastian
Museum of San Telmo –This recently refurbished museum is a very special place, where history and tradition are in perfect harmony with modernity and the future of this city. On the one side we have the 16th century Dominican convent with a unique cloister and on the other side, we have a modern building perfectly blending in with the surrounding nature.
Aquarium – The Aquarium, or San Sebastian’s Sea Palace, was the very first natural science museum to be opened in Spain. Above all, it presents the results of the research and oceanographic studies carried out in the region. It also has an area dedicated to history and naval model-making as well as a glass tunnel which goes through a breathtaking tank of 1 800 000 litres of water, where all sorts of sea life can be found.
Naval Museum – This museum is situated next to the Aquarium and it presents the relationship between the sea and the Basque Country inhabitants all through the centuries. It shows above all the building of boats.
Science Museum and Planetarium –It is the ideal place to go with all the family, the same as the Aquarium. It presents a permanent interactive exhibition where there are all sorts of experiments to be tried out, a roller coaster simulator and a Planetarium. And you can also enjoy the open air adventure park weather permitting. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, except during July and August when it is open daily.
